I made it an amazing 2 days before I dropped the ball, not only on posting but on praying steadfastly. I am incapable of consistency. Sure I prayed daily even when I didn't post but for specific reasons (food, prayer request from someone, bedtime, need, etc.) I serve a big, powerful, reliable God. I am none of those things, I am small, petty, weak and inconsistent. Oh Well, I am going to pick it up and keep trying.
Today I pray that I will be the type of friend God calls me to be. I want to be a friend that can be trusted, counted on and turned to. I want to pray for, fight for and challenge my friends.
Let's see if I can stick with it...

Day 2 - 60 days of Prayer
Today my prayer focus is seeing people like Christ does. Examine how you describe a person or how you think about them, is that the way Christ would describe them? Is that the way you would describe them out loud? It is so easy to see the surface and not bother to look beyond but today I tried to think each time I saw a surface I didn't like: God fashioned this person just like they are, if this a distortion of them I am seeing or am i critiquing God's work? If it is a distortion caused by sin can I really judge them? Aren't I daily distorted into a horrid person by the sins in my own life? Would I like someone to judge me on my selfish, judgemental or agitated moments?
"Search my heart Lord and rid thoughts that do reflect your truth. Help me to look at people and see their needs and not their deficits."

Day 1 - 60 days of Prayer
For the next 60 days I am going to strive for praying not just in groups, over food, at night or when I need something. I want to pray steadfastly. My primary prayer today stems from our sermon yesterday.
"Lord, Thank you for giving us a story worth sharing. Please help me to see open doors, to find ways to spread the gospel to those around me. Help me see pain I can help heal, hearts I can encourage, brethren I can build up. Help me not to be so self absorbed and clueless."
May your day be filled with prayer.

Isn't Comfortable Good?
There are lots of theories and conflicting research on how long it takes for something to become a habit (21-66 days seems be average). Maybe this is because every person and every habit is different. For me I know I can stick to something 4-6 weeks then toss it but I have found that if I do something for 8 weeks it's probably here to stay. Keeping all this in mind and allowing plenty of room for error I have decided to begin a series of 60 day challenges to myself that, I hope, will help me stretch my faith.
I have a very comfortable faith life, which may sound great but it isn't. I pray, read my Bible and try to live life the way I should. MONOTONY. It's the enemy of zeal! My walk has grown boring and safe and I need some new habits! I am realistic though, I don't want a fad or trend that will hype me up, get me on fire for God then leave me cold and burned out when I'm done. I want real change. I am going to focus on one thing at a time but most importantly of all I am going to try the scariest, most difficult thing I can think of. Accountability. Yep, I am going to post here daily so that my successes and my failures look me in the face and are transparent to anyone who cares to see. I hope to form habits and make myself admit and face things that are difficult so that I can have the faith I desire.
Tomorrow = Day 1, Challenge 1
